The full version of Oscillator Drift started as part of a month-or-so long project done for the radio show (Press the Button), sometime in 1999 or 2000. The earliest two drafts (now lost, presumably) were an hour long "base version", followed by a half hour trimmed and overdubbed version. The third revision is about fifteen minutes long. It was then split into two smaller parts with a middle chunk thrown out. This is that first part of the third revision. Instruments used are a Yamaha RY10 drum machine and CS1X synthesizer, as well as a Realistic MG-1 synthesizer. There are also a lot of shortwave samples.
